The Crest of Clan MacScott

The sun of Clan Carr and the boot of Clan McAuley together make up the crest of Clan MacScott. It fosters going forth on life's journey, led by the light of knowledge, the light of energy, the light of life.

The maternal line honors Jane Butler McAuley, born in Scotland, of clan McAuley and, through her mother, clan Carr.

The Proclamation

It is with humility and profound respect for ancestral tradition that I, Scott McGraw, do hereby proclaim a change in name for myself and my lineage to Scott MacScott. This decision follows a period of deep reflection upon the meaning of family continuity and the legacy I wish to bequeath to my children.

In accordance with ancient Scottish custom, wherein a new clan adopts the name of its founder, my descendants shall henceforth be known as MacScott, signifying their place as the children of this new house. This transition serves also to honor my true heritage, correcting a historical clerical error that recorded my father's name as McGraw rather than McGrath. I solemnly affirm our direct and rightful lineage to the McGrath line of my grandfather. I entrust this name to my descendants, with the earnest hope that they shall carry it with integrity and grace, honoring the path I have chosen for generations to follow.
